NSA “A” World Series
Mercer’s/K&G/TPS became the fifth A team to win a World Tournament in the 2001 season. Normally there are only four Class A World’s, but this year the ASA had two, that being one in the East and one in the West. K&G who had to play Major in the ASA this year, were allowed to compete in the other associations in Class A too. There’s no doubt about it, they’re a very good A team. New Construction who won a Major this year are also a Class A team. Both New and K&G are caught in the old trap both being very good A teams, but not quite as good as two or three of the AA teams, but did beat those AA teams during the season. K&G/TPS has proven as well as New Construction that they both played against A & AA and have held their own when they played in the Super NIT’s. K&G played very well in the NSA Super World’s this year finishing fourth.
Congratulations to Carl and his whole organization on their great 2001 season. K&G was led again by up and coming Super player Rick Baker, who was named MVP again. Finishing in second place was New Construction who has picked it up in the World Tournaments, and showed they can play with any A & AA team down the stretch. Third place went to Rose City Motors a team I don’t really know much about, but must be fairly good. Getting fourth place was a very good A team, T’s 13/Nike who has played very good all season long. They’ve played in quite a few tournaments this season and have been very competitive.
To all the teams that participated in this Class “A” Division this year Congratulations on a very competitive year in Class A ball. There’s still one tournament left in Class A and that will be played next month in Oklahoma in the ASA Championship when T’s 13/Nike will play Creative Stucco/Easton for the 2001 Class “A” ASA World Championship.
